The work

What a clearance actually involves.

We work through the garden in order — cut it down, clear it out, then tidy what's underneath. By the time we leave you can walk round it again.

  • Overgrowth cut backBrambles, nettles, tall grass and self-seeded shrubs taken down to ground level.
  • Hedges brought under controlCut back to a manageable shape and height, not just skimmed.
  • Lawn found and mowedCut in stages if it's long, then edged so the shape comes back.
  • Beds and borders clearedWeeded out so you can see what's worth keeping underneath it all.
  • Paths and patios uncoveredSwept and blown down so the garden reads as a space again.
  • Green waste loaded and goneRegistered carrier. It goes to be composted, not to landfill.

Straight answers

We'd rather tell you now than surprise you on the day. If your job needs something on the right-hand list, say so up front and we'll price it or point you to someone who does it.

  • Shrubs and light branches cut down

Prices

Priced by size, agreed before we start.

A clearance is nearly always a full day for two gardeners. What changes is the size of the garden and how far it's gone, so send photos and we'll tell you exactly where you land.

Questions

Everything people ask about clearances.

How much does an overgrown garden clearance cost?

Between £250 for a small garden and £580 for a large one, depending on size and how dense the overgrowth is. Use the estimator on this page for a price in about a minute, or send photos and we'll come back with a fixed quote. Get an estimate →

How long does it take?

Most clearances are a full day for a two-gardener team. Very large or very dense gardens can run into a second day, and we'll tell you that up front rather than on the day.

Do you need to come and look first?

Not usually. Photos from a few different corners are enough for us to price most gardens. If something looks unclear we'll ask, or arrange a quick visit.

Is the green waste included?

Yes, green waste removal is part of the service and we're a registered waste carrier. If a garden throws up far more than a normal clearance, extra jumbo bags are £30 each and always agreed with you before we load them.

Can you take away rubbish and old furniture too?

Not as part of this service — we're licensed for green waste. If there's a shed full of junk or fly-tipped rubbish, mention it when you send photos and we'll point you to someone who can.

Will you take out trees or dig out stumps?

No. Tree surgery, stump removal and heavy digging need a qualified arborist and different kit. We'll happily recommend someone.

What's left afterwards?

A cleared, walkable garden with the lawn cut and the beds visible. Some bare earth is normal after heavy weeding — if you want it planted or turfed afterwards, we can quote for that separately.

Will it just grow back?

Some of it, yes — that's what gardens do. Most people who book a clearance put the garden on a fortnightly or monthly round afterwards so it never gets to that state again. It works out far cheaper than clearing it twice.

Do I need to be home?

No, as long as we can get to the garden and know where the waste can go out. You'll get photos when we're finished.
