Can I buy the materials myself?
Yes. On bigger decks we can send you the full materials list to order direct from the supplier, so the cost is transparent and the manufacturer's warranty is in your name. Our price then covers labour and waste removal.
Composite or timber decking?
Composite costs more up front but does not rot, splinter or need staining, and it keeps its colour. Timber costs less, looks natural and can be re-stained, but needs looking after every year or two. For a deck you want to forget about, composite is the better spend.
Do you supply and install composite decking?
Yes. We supply the boards, build the frame and fit everything, so there is one price and one team responsible for the whole deck.
How long does it take to build a deck?
Most garden decks take a few days, depending on size, height and access. Raised decks, steps and handrails add time, and we tell you how long with the quote.
Do you take the old deck away?
Yes. Taking up an old deck, frame and posts is part of the quote, and it all leaves under our waste carrier registration.
What goes under the deck?
The ground is cleared and levelled, a weed membrane goes down, and the frame sits on proper supports so it stays level. That is the part you never see, and the part that decides how long the deck lasts.
Is composite decking slippery?
Good quality composite boards have a textured, grooved surface for grip. Any deck can get slippery with algae in shade, and composite is far easier to keep clean than timber.
Do I need planning permission for a deck?
A ground-level deck in a rear garden usually does not. A deck raised well off the ground, or one close to a boundary, can need permission, so if yours will be raised we will tell you before you commit.
Can you build raised decking and steps?
Yes. Raised decks, steps down to the lawn, handrails and fascia boards are all built to match, and priced in the quote.
